You got into this work because you wanted to make a difference. But working in sustainability and social impact means spending your days inside some of the hardest problems we face. It can be meaningful, frustrating, energizing, exhausting, and sometimes all of those things at once.
Desert & Sky is a coaching practice for people who have built their careers around creating change. It offers a place to step outside the urgency of the work, turn some of that attention inward, and make space for what may be asking to be seen.

Maybe something in your life feels unsettled, even if you can't quite name why. You may be moving through a transition, finding yourself in familiar patterns, feeling disconnected from yourself or others, or questioning things that once felt certain. Or perhaps life looks good from the outside, but something deeper is asking for your attention.
What we're experiencing in the present often connects to something larger: how we've learned to relate to ourselves and others, what we've come to value, the stories we've carried with us, and the ways we've learned to move through the world.
Our work together offers a place to slow down and look more closely. The aim is not to optimize yourself or find the next goal to chase, but to understand what's happening beneath the surface and what it might be asking of you.
About Ann
For more than 14 years, I've worked in sustainability, ESG, social impact, and public service, helping organizations navigate complex questions about responsibility, change, and the role they play in the world.
I've worked alongside sustainability leaders across industries, from global companies to mission-driven organizations, helping turn ambitious commitments into practical action. My work has taken me inside the realities of trying to create change within complex organizations: competing priorities, difficult stakeholders, imperfect systems, and the often significant distance between what we want to change and what is actually within our control.
I know how meaningful this work can be. I also know how much it can ask of the people doing it.
With a bachelor's degree in Political Science and a master's degree in Peace and Justice Studies, I've long been interested in how people, communities, and systems shape one another. Again and again, I found myself returning to the human side of transformation: how people make meaning, adapt to uncertainty, and find their way through life's most significant transitions.
That curiosity eventually led me to begin a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and pursue certification in mind-body coaching, allowing me to deepen my understanding of the inner dimensions of change.
I believe many of the struggles we experience aren't problems to solve as quickly as possible. Sometimes they're signals worth listening to.
My work offers a different pace: a place to slow down, pay attention, and become curious about what's happening within you and around you. I believe meaningful change grows through relationship: with ourselves, with one another, and with the living world we're part of.
We live within relationships, families, communities, places, and larger systems.
When we change, those systems feel it.
Approach
No two people are alike, and no two conversations unfold in exactly the same way. Rather than following a fixed formula, I meet you where you are, allowing our work to respond both to what feels most important in the moment and to what emerges along the way.
Our conversations can make space for whatever is asking for your attention, whether that's something unfolding at work, a relationship, a recurring pattern, a life transition, a sense of disconnection, or simply the feeling that something in your life is ready to change.
We may start with the most pressing issue in front of you, but those conversations often open into larger questions about what's happening underneath. Together, we'll explore the experiences, patterns, and relationships that have shaped how you move through your work and your life, listening for what has been asking for your attention.
I believe we understand ourselves through more than thought alone. Alongside conversation and reflection, our work may draw on the body, dreams, family and ancestral stories, intuition, recurring patterns, and the natural world as sources of insight. We follow what feels meaningful to you, without assuming there is one right way to understand your experience.
This is depth-oriented work, but it is also practical. Sometimes you need to understand a pattern. Sometimes you need to make a decision, have a difficult conversation, set a boundary, or figure out what Monday morning needs to look like. There is room for both.
